Kyle Busch, driver of the #18 Interstate Batteries Toyota, celebrates with the checkered flag after winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway on March 23, 2014 in Fontana, California.

For the second consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Auto Club 400, it was Kyle Busch finding himself in victory lane Sunday afternoon at Auto Club Speedway.

In a green-white-checkered (flags) dash to the finish, Busch went from third to first and battled series Sunoco Rookie of the Year (ROTY) contender, Kyle Larson, for the win – an opposite finish from Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event.

Busch, who makes the fifth different winner in the first five races of the 2014 NSCS season, received his first series win of the 2014 season, his twenty-ninth series career win, and his third series win at Auto Club Speedway.

Following Busch and Larson to the drop of the checkered flag were Kurt Busch finishing third, pole-sitter Matt Kenseth fourth and Tony Stewart finished fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten finishing positions were Jamie McMurray claiming sixth, Brian Vickers seventh, AJ Allmendinger eighth, Paul Menard ninth and last week’s winner and new points leader, Carl Edwards (leaves Fontana with a 1-point lead over Dale Earnhardt, Jr. – who finished 12th) brings home tenth.

On a side note: Our thoughts and prayers are with driver Denny Hamlin, as he had to step aside from his driving duties for a severe sinus infection that impaired his vision and sent him to the hospital just prior to the race.
