Harvick led 202 of the 250 laps in a race delayed nearly 3 1/2 hours by rain Friday night. The victory was the 41st of his career in the series, and his record-extending seventh at 0.75-mile Richmond.

The race finally got started in the fog. Brian Scott jumped to the early lead, but before too long Harvick powered to the front of the field.

Kevin Harvick pulled away on a restart with 47 laps to go and ended Chase Elliott’s two-game winning streak in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series with a dominating victory early Saturday at Richmond International Raceway.

Elliott, the Georgia high-schooler and son of racing great Bill Elliott, was looking to win his third consecutive race and pad his points lead, but managed to do just the latter when Harvick was too fast.

The pair finished nearly seven seconds ahead of third-place finisher Kyle Busch.

Kyle Larson was fourth, and pole-sitter Brian Scott fifth.

It didn’t take long for trouble to happen. On lap 2 the No. 17 of Tanner Berryhill slowed due to drive shaft problems coming off Turn 2 in the middle of the pack. Everyone spread out and Kevin Lepage was hit and turned hard into the inside wall. Lepage was able to get out and walk from the car on his own.

Kevin Harvick broke Mark Martin’s record for most laps lead in the Nationwide Series tonight.

Three wins in a row for Jr Motorsports.
