NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., with a lap speed of 193.562 m.p.h., was the fastest driver Friday afternoon during the final (and only) 2014 NASCAR Sprint All-Star practice session at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Second fastest was Brian Vickers with a lap speed of 193.382 m.p.h., and he was followed by Denny Hamlin (193.271 m.p.h.) who third, Kevin Harvick (193.023) fourth and Greg Biffle (191.666) was fifth.
Rounding out the top-ten fastest drivers during the “Happy Hour” (final) practice were Ryan Newman (191.415 m.p.h.) who was sixth, Jeff Gordon (191.198) sevent Kyle Busch (191.191) eighth, Matt Kenseth (191.164) ninth and Tony Stewart (191.063) posting the tenth fastest lap speed.
The last fifteen minutes saw drivers practicing coming onto pit road at full speed. Brad Keselowski did two runs five minutes too early, he had a quick sit down with NASCAR officials in the hauler before practice was over.
Qualifying will take place on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. (ET) and consist of 3 laps and a pit-stop for four tires, and then impounded before the 30th annual NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race that follows later in the evening and televised by FOX Sports 1.
