Sam Hornish Jr. dominates Nationwide Series win at Iowa Speedway

hornish-at-newton-win1Sunday afternoon at Iowa Speedway, Sam Hornish, Jr.,  with a dominate performance behind the wheel for Joe Gibbs Racing, won the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) Get to Know Newton 250.

Hornish, who led the most laps – 167 out of 250, received his first series win of the season, his third series career win and his first series win at Iowa Speedway.

Pole-sitter, Ryan Blaney, would finish 0.796 seconds behind Hornish for second, and they were followed by Regan Smith finishing third, series Sunoco Rookie of the Year (ROTY) contender, Chase Elliott fourth and Elliott Sadler finished fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten finishing positions were Brian Scott bringing home sixth, Michael McDowell seventh, ROTY contender Ty Dillon eighth, Trevor Bayne ninth and Landon Cassill claiming tenth.

With their fourth and fifth place finishes, Chase Elliott leaves Iowa with a two-point lead in the series standings over Elliott Sadler.
