Lewis Hamilton has finished fastest in the final practice session ahead of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix later today.
The British driver is chasing a fifth straight win this weekend, and his practice form suggests that he has every chance of doing exactly that after finishing ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and teammate Nico Rosberg on Saturday morning in Monaco.
But Ricciardo was very close behind and faster than Rosberg’s Silver Arrow.
Vettel and the Ferraris were next up, follered by the Force Indias.
After a rain-hit second practice on Thursday, this morning’s session will be hugely important for the teams and drivers as they bid to set up their cars for this afternoon’s all-important qualifying session.
It will be interesting to see wheather anyone can halt Mercedes’ dominance this weekend. On a track where horsepower is less important, the Renault- and Ferrari-powered teams are certainly more confident of providing an upset here than at any other track we’ve visited so far.
Big moment for Hamilton at Tabac. He gets an armful of oversteer and just manages to keep his Mercedes out of the barriers. Hamilton was fighting the handling of his car through most of the practice session.
Ericsson and Vergne both had troubles at Turn 1, Ste Devote. Both drivers were able to return without any problems.
Vergne had another moment at Mirabeau. No damage and was able to rejoin.
Clearly the Frenchman has some braking issues.
Any accident in this session would be hugely damaging and could potentially rule a car out of qualifying.
