Kyle Larson fastest in final Sprint Cup practice at Michigan; Carl Edwards’ woes continue

kyle-larson-smileAverage lap speeds stayed well below 200 m.p.h., Saturday afternoon during the final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) practice session at Michigan International Speedway, and it was rookie contender, Kyle Larson, that was the quickest with a lap speed of 198.424 m.p.h.

The current series points leader and tomorrow’s outside pole-sitter, Jeff Gordon, was second quickest with a lap speed of 198.265 m.p.h, while the pole-sitter, Kevin Harvick (198.238 m.p.h.) starts third, Jimmie Johnson (198.183) fourth and Brian Vickers (197.797) was fifth quickest.

Rounding out the top-ten quickest drivers in the “Happy Hour” (final) practice were Kasey Kahne (197.509 m.p.h.) who was sixth, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (197.374) seventh, Kurt Busch 197.368) eighth, Kyle Busch (197.336) and Clint Bowyer (197.120) posting tenth.

The 46th annual Quicken Loans 400 is set to get started around 1:20 p.m. (ET) Sunday afternoon, with “television coverage” provided by TNT (the, “Have a Little NASCAR with Your Commercials,” station) beginning with their 12:00 p.m. (ET) Countdown to Green pre-race show.
