Persistence pays off for Kevin Harvick, passes Kyle Busch with 5 laps left to win Nationwide race at Kentucky

10468686_869132756433682_9020262701258407261_nSpeeding on pit road for Brad Keselowski, caused a dominate night in Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300, to turn into a second-place finish and a victory for Kevin Harvick at Kentucky Speedway.

For Harvick, this was his second series win of the 2014 season, his forty-second series career win and his second series win at Kentucky Speedway.

Keselowski, who started on the pole and led the most laps – 138 out of 200, ran out of time in the closing laps to regain the lead, and had to settle for second. He was follwed by Kyle Busch finishing third, Paul Menard fourth and Ryan Blaney finished fifth.

Last week’s road course winner at Road America, Brendan Gaughan, claimed sixth, while series Rookie of the Year (ROTY) candidate, Ty Dillon finished seventh, Brian Scott eighth, Kyle Larson ninth and Elliott Sadler brought home tenth.

With his tenth-place finish, Elliott Sadler leaves Kentucky as the series points leader with a 4-point lead over ROTY candidate, Chase Elliott.
