Kyle Busch earns New Hampshire pole, Johnson starts 2nd

BsS5GSKCEAAR69lKyle Busch shattered the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) qualifying track record at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) early Friday evening, as he captures the pole for Sunday’s Camping World RV Sales 301 with a qualifying lap speed of 138.130mph.

Busch, who broke Ryan Newman’s qualifying record speed of 136.497mph – set last September, received his second series pole of the season, his fifteenth series career pole and his second series pole at “the Magic Mile.”

The top-9 qualifiers all broke the previous qualifying track record.

The defending series champion, Jimmie Johnson, will start second on the outside pole with a qualifying lap speed of 137.790mph, and he will be followed by Denny Hamlin (137.081mph) starting third, Tony Stewart (137.076) fourth and Jamie McMurray (137.017) starts fifth.

Qualifying in a back up car due to a wreck in today’s practice, Joey Logano (136.815mph will start sixth, while Brad Keselowski (136.805) starts seventh, Clint Boywer (136.702) eighth, Martin Truex, Jr. (136.629) ninth and Kasey Kahne (136.174) starting tenth.

With only 43 drivers attempting to fill the 43-car field, there was no one failing to make the starting lineup.

On Saturday, the qualified teams will have two more practice sessions beginning with a morning session from 9:00 a.m. – 9:50 a.m (ET) and then their “Happy Hour” (final) practice will be from 11:30 a.m. – 12:25 p.m. (ET).

The 22nd annual Camping World RV Sales 301 is set to get start at approximately 1:20 p.m. (ET) Sunday afternoon, and TNT ends their television coverage beginning with their 12:00 p.m. (ET) Countdown to Green pre-race show.
