Brian Scott takes Nationwide pole for Chicagoland

Chicagoland Speedway - Day 1Early Saturday evening at Chicagoland Speedway, it was Brian Scott – with a qualifying lap speed of 177.807mph – capturing the pole for tonight’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) enjoyillinois.com 300.

This was Scott’s second series pole of the 2014 season, his fourth series career pole and his second series pole at Chicagoland Speedway.

Series Rookie of the Year (ROYT) candidates, Ty Dillon (177.643mph) and Chase Elliott (177.381mph) will start second and third respectively, while Erik Jones (177.322) starts fourth and Kasey Kahne (177.136) fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten starting positions will be Sam Hornish, Jr. (177.090mph) starting sixth, Elliott Sadler (177.032) seventh, Ryan Blaney (176.759) eighth, Brendan Gaughan (176.615) ninth and Cale Conley (176.327) starts tenth.

With only 40 drivers attempting to fill the 40-car field, there was no one failing to make the starting lineup.

The 4th annual enjoyillinois.com 300 is scheduled to get underway around 8:50 p.m. (ET) this evening, and television coverage will be provided by ESPN2 beginning with their 8:00 p.m. (ET) NASCAR Countdown  pre-race program.
