Ryan Blaney takes last-lap duel, wins NASCAR Trucks at CTMP

BwZKE7NIMAETq-AWith an exciting finish in Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Chevrolet Silverado 250. it was Ryan Blaney re-taking the lead from German Quiroga – in the final corner on the final lap – to win at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport).

Blaney, who led the most laps – 34 out of 64, received his first series win of the 2014 season, his fourth series career win and his first series win at Mosport.

Following Blaney and Quiroga to the drop of the checkered flag were Erik Jones finishing third, series Rookie of the Year (ROTY) candidate, Gray Gaulding fourth and Andrew Ranger finished fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten finishing positions were Matt Crafton bringing home sixth-place, Brennan Newberry seventh, the current series points leader, Johnny Sauter eighth, Cole Custer ninth and Timothy Peters taking tenth-place.

With his eighth-place finish, Johnny Sauter leaves Mosport with a 7-point lead over his fellow ThorSport Racing teammate, Matt Crafton.

Kevin Harvick in a class of his own, dominates Atlanta NNS race

BwVSZmwCMAAqhfCKevin Harvick was the class of the field Saturday night during the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) Great Clips 300, as Harvick led 159 laps – out of 195 – and kept Joey Logano behind him (by 0.567 seconds) on his way to victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

This was Harvick’s third series win of the 2014 season, his forty-third series career win and his third series win at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Following Harvick and Logano to the drop of the checkered flag were Kyle Larson finishing third, Kyle Busch fourth and the current series points leader, rookie contender and pole-sitter, Chase Elliott (the only other lap leader – led 36 laps) brought home fifth-place.

Rounding out the top-ten finishing positions were Regan Smith taking sixth-place, Brian Scott seventh, David Ragan eighth, rookie contender Ty Dillon ninth and Elliott Sadler claimed tenth.

Alex Tagliani breaks track record, wins Truck Series pole at CTMP

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park - Day 2Road course specialist, Alex “Tags” Tagliani, with a new qualifying track record lap speed of 109.889mph, captured his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) pole for Sunday’s Chevrolet Silverado 250 at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport).

The previous series qualifying track record at Mosport was 109.189mph, which was set last year (for the inaugural race) by James Buescher.

Series Rookie of the Year (ROTY) candidate, Gray Gaulding, with a qualifying lap speed of 109.301mph, will start on the outside pole; followed by Erik Jones (109.269mph) starting third, German Quiroga, Jr. (109.212) fourth and Cole Custer (109.010) starts fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten starting positions will be Andrew Ranger (108.807mph) starting sixth, Darrell Wallace, Jr. (108.745) seventh, Matt Crafton (108.728) eighth, Timothy Peters (108.517) ninth and Cameron Hayley (107.930) will start from tenth.

With only 28 drivers attempting to fill the 36-truck field, there was no one failing to make the starting lineup.

Kenseth, Logano top final Sprint Cup practice

Joey Logano was second fastest with a lap speed of 187.869mph, and was followed by Denny Hamlin (187.114mph) who was third, Jeff Gordon (186.956) fourth and Jimmie Johnson (186.855) was fifth.

No place like home: Chase Elliott earns first career NNS pole at Atlanta

This was Elliott’s first series career pole in his 24th NNS race.

Kyle Larson, with a qualifying lap speed of 179.510mph, will start on the outside pole in second; followed by Kyle Busch (179.487mph) starting third, Joey Logano (179.441) fourth and Elliott Sadler (178.677) starts fifth.

Joey Logano leads second Cup practice session

Logano-main_jpg_mainThe NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) teams returned to Atlanta Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon for their second (of three) Oral-B USA 500 practice session. And, at the conclusion of the practice, it was Joey Logano – with a lap speed of 189.351mph – at the top of the scoring pylon.

Second on the scoring pylon with a lap speed of 188.328mph, was pole-sitter Kevin Harvick; followed by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (187.843mph) who was third, Denny Hamlin (187.405) fourth and Carl Edwards (187.215) was fifth.

Andrew Ranger lead Truck final practices at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Andrew_Ranger_Road_America_2013Canadian driver, Andrew Ranger, put down the fastest lap Saturday during the final NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Chevrolet Silverado 250 practice session, when he ran a lap speed of 109.614mph at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport).

Fastest in the morning session, German Quiroga, Jr., was second fastest in this session with a speed of 109.597mph, followed by Cole Custer (109.526mph who was third, Ryan Blaney (109.516) fourth and rookie Gray Gaulding (109.443) was fifth.

Road course specialist, Alex “Tags” Tagliani (109.401mph) was sixth fastest, while Matt Crafton (109.043) was seventh, Erik Jones (108.998) eighth, Darrell Wallace, Jr. (108.882) ninth and the current series points leader, Johnny Sauter (108.816) rounding out the top-ten.

The teams will return to the track early this evening at 5:40 p.m. (ET) for qualifying to determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s race. The current series qualifying track record at Mosport is 109.189mph, set last year (inaugural race) by James Buescher.

The 2nd annual Chevrolet Silverado 250 is slated to get started around 1:50 p.m. (ET) Sunday afternoon, and FOX Sports 1 will provide television coverage of the event beginning with their pre-race show at 1:00 p.m.
