Joey Logano leads second Cup practice session

Logano-main_jpg_mainThe NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) teams returned to Atlanta Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon for their second (of three) Oral-B USA 500 practice session. And, at the conclusion of the practice, it was Joey Logano – with a lap speed of 189.351mph – at the top of the scoring pylon.

Second on the scoring pylon with a lap speed of 188.328mph, was pole-sitter Kevin Harvick; followed by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (187.843mph) who was third, Denny Hamlin (187.405) fourth and Carl Edwards (187.215) was fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten were Greg Biffle (186.679mph) who was sixth, Kasey Kahne (186.297) seventh, Jeff Gordon (186.153) eighth, Ryan Newman (186.034) and Jamie McMurray (185.915) posting tenth.

The rain came before practice was over, cutting it short, and hopefully the weather will permit the teams to return to the track later this evening for their “Happy Hour” (final) practice from 6:00 p.m. – 6:50 p.m. (ET).

Sunday evening’s 55th annual Oral-B USA 500 is scheduled to get underway around 7:50 p.m. (ET) and ESPN will provided television coverage beginning with their 7:00 p.m. (ET) NASCAR Countdown pre-race show.
