Johnny Sauter tops second Camping World Truck practice at Daytona

Johnny+Sauter+Daytona+International+Speedway+_99D0mCE98SlJohnny Sauter, with a lap speed of 190.617 MPH, showed the fastest way around Daytona International Speedway Thursday afternoon during the final NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) practice session for Friday night’s NextEra Energy Resources 250.

Second fastest with a lap speed of 189.962 MPH was Cameron Hayley, and he was followed by series Rookie of the Year (ROTY) contender, Austin Theriault (189.645) who was third, Ty Dillon (189.577) fourth and RORY contender Spencer Gallagher (189.561) was fifth.

Rounding out the top-10 fastest drivers in the “Happy Hour” (final) practice were Cody Ware (188.600 MPH) who was sixth, Brian Silas (188.513) seventh, Tyler Young (188.225) eighth, Joe Nemechek (188.206) ninth, and Daniel Saurez (188.159) posting the 10th fastest lap speed.

The teams return Friday afternoon at 4:45 pm (ET – On FOX Sports 1) for qualifying to determine the starting lineup for that evening’s race. The current series qualifying track record is 187.563 MPH, set by Joe Rutman on Feb. 18th, 2000.

The 16th annual NextEra Energy Resources 250 (100 laps) is scheduled to get underway around 7:50 pm (ET) Friday evening, and FOX Sports will provide television coverage of the event.
