Joey Logano fastest in NASCAR Xfinity first practice at Phoenix

Hisense 250 - PracticeJoey Logano, with a lap speed of 131.685 MPH, was the fastest Friday afternoon during the first NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) practice session for Saturday’s Axalta Faster. Tougher. Brighter. 200 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR).

Second fastest in the session was Kevin Harvick with a lap speed of 131.444 MPH, and he was followed by Regan Smith (131.339 MPH) who was third, Matt Kenseth (131.162) fourth and Brian Scott (131.000) was fifth.

Rounding out the top-19 fastest drivers in the practice were Erik Jones (130.947 MPH) who was sixth, Austin Dillon (130.804) seventh, Chase Elliott (130.795) eighth, Ty Dillon (130.681) ninth and Chris Buescher (130.501) posting the 10th fastest lap speed.

The teams will have their “Happy Hour” (final) practice session shorty after the first session from 6:00 p.m. – 7:25 p.m. (ET – On FOX Sports 2), before returning Saturday afternoon at 12:45 p.m. (ET – On FOX Sports 1) for qualifying to determine the starting lineup for that afternoon’s race. The current series qualifying track record at PIR is 134.298 MPH, which was set on February 26, 2011 by Kyle Busch.

The 11th annual Axalta Faster. Tougher. Brighter 200 is set to get underway around 4:20 p.m. (ET) Saturday afternoon, and FOX will provide television coverage of the event.
