Kevin Harvick, with a lap speed of 174.961 MPH, was the fastest Friday afternoon during the first NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) practice session for Saturday’s Drive4Clots.com 300 at Auto Club Speedway (ACS).
Second fastest with a lap speed of 174.681 MPH was Denny Hamlin, and he was followed by Brad Keselowski (174.338 MPH) who was third, Regan Smith (173.842) fourth and Erik Jones (173.829) was fifth.
Rounding out the top-10 quickest drivers in the session were Kyle Larson (173.678 MPH) who was sixth, the reigning series champion, Chase Elliott (173.628) seventh, Brian Scott (173.590) eighth, Brendan Gaughan (173.565) ninth and Austin Dillon (173.398) posting the 10th quickest lap speed.
The teams will return to the track shortly after their first practice session to run their final (“Happy Hour”) practice from 6:00 p.m. – 7:25 p.m. (ET – On FOX Sports 1), before returning Saturday afternoon at 12:45 p.m. (ET – On FOX Sports 1) for qualifying to determine the starting lineup for that afternoon’s event. Tony Stewart currently holds the track’s qualifying track record speed of 185.941 MPH. which he set on Feb. 26th, 2005.
The 17th annual Drive4Clots.com 300 is set to begin around 4:20 p.m. (ET) Saturday afternoon, and FOX Sports 1 will provide television coverage of the race.
