Austin Dillon fastest again in second Xfinity practice at Texas

untitledaOnce again on Thursday in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), it was Austin Dillon – with a lap speed of 181.372 MPH – showing the quickest way around the track, during the final O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 practice session.

Regan Smith was second quickest in the practice with a lap speed of 179.994 MPH, and he was followed by series Rookie of the Year (ROTY) candidate, Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. (179.934 MPH) who was third, Brad Kesekowski (179.683) fourth and Elliott Sadler (179.420) was fifth.

Rounding out the top-10 quickest drivers in the “Happy Hour” (final) session were Erik Jones (179.402 MPH) who was sixth, Brendan Gaughan (179.325) seventh, the reigning series champion, Chase Elliott (179.069) eighth, ROTY candidate Daniel Suarez (178.986) ninth and JJ Yeley (178.459) posting 10th.

Qualifying to determine the starting lineup for Friday evening’s race will be at 4:45 p.m. (ET – On FOX Sports 1) that afternoon, and it has been just over 13-years (04/06/2002) since Jeff Green set the series’ qualifying track record speed of 193.493 MPH at Texas Motor Speedway.

The 19th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 is set to get started around 8:50 p.m. (ET) Friday night, and FOX Sports 1 will be providing television coverage of the event.
