Kasey Kahne fastest in final Sprint Cup practices at Texas

kasey-kahne-3Kasey Kahne, with a lap speed of 190.975 MPH, was the fastest Friday afternoon during the final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Duck Commander 500 practice session at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS).

Second fastest in the session with a lap speed of 190.523 MPH was Jimmie Johnson, and he was followed by Jamie McMurray (189.653 MPH) who was third, Denny Hamlin (189.560) fourth and Casey Mears (189.062) was fifth.

Rounding out the top-10 fastest drivers in the “Happy Hour” (final) practice were Ryan Blaney (188.910 MPH) who was sixth, Dale Earnhardt Jr. (188.785) seventh, Kurt Busch (188.706) eighth, Alex Bowman (188.679) ninth and Ryan Newman (188.646) posting the 10th-fastest lap speed.

The teams will return to the track this evening at 6:45 p.m (ET – On FOX Sports 1) for qualifying to determine the starting lineup for Saturday night’s race. Tony Stewart is the current series qualifying track record holder at TMS with a lap speed of 200.111 MPH, which he set this past October 31st.

The 19th annual Duck Commander 500 is scheduled to get underway around 7:50 p.m (ET) Saturday evening, and FOX will provide television coverage of the event.
