Erik Jones continues fast weekend, takes Truck pole at Kansas

CEhdmzEUIAIc7rvNASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Rookie of the Year (ROTY) candidate, Erik Jones, with a new series qualifying track record speed of 179.396 MPH at Kansas Speedway, captured the pole for this evening’s NCWTS Toyota Tundra 250.

Jones, who broke Kyle Busch’s previous record of 178.921 MPH, received his first series pole of the 2015 season, his third series career pole and his first series pole at Kansas Speedway.

Starting on the outside pole to start second with a lap speed of 177.509 MPH will be Matt Crafton; followed by ROTY candidate Brandan Jones (177.142 MPH) starting third, Ryan Newman (176.748) fourth and Ben Kennedy (176.269) starts fifth.

Rounding out the top-10 starting positions will be ROTY candidate Daniel Hemric (176.188 MPH) starting sixth, Johnny Sauter (176.108) seventh, ROTY candidates Cameron Hayley (175.564) and Justin Boston (175.330) will start eighth and ninth respectively, and Daniel Suarez (174.402) starts 10th.

With only 32-drivers attempting to qualify for the 32-truck field, there was no one failing to make the starting lineup.

The 16th annual Toyota Tundra 250 is slated to get started around 8:50 p.m. (ET) this evening, and FOX Sports 1 will televise the race.
