Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch fastest in Friday Cup practice at Pocono

harvick-pocono-2015-gettyThe reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) champion and current points leader, Kevin Harvick, was the quickest early Friday afternoon at Pocono Raceway – with a lap speed of 176.932 MPH – during the first NSCS Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 practice session.

Second quickest in the session was Kyle Busch with a lap speed of 176.772 MPH, and he was followed by Carl Edwards (176.717 MPH) who was third, Dale Earnhardt Jr. (176.564) fourth and Austin Dillon (176.561) was fifth.

Rounding out the top-10 quickest drivers in practice were Denny Hamlin (176.547 MPH) who was sixth Brad Keselowski (176.509) seventh, Martin Truex Jr. (176.363) eighth, Jimmie Johnson (176.339) ninth and Jeff Gordon (176.305) posting the 10th quickest lap speed.

Qualifying to determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s race is set to get started at 4:45 p.m. (ET – On FOX Sports 1) this afternoon, where Kyle Larson is the current series qualifying track record holder at Pocono, which he set on August 3rd of last year with a lap speed of 183.438 MPH.

The 34th annual Axalta “We Pain Winners” 400 is scheduled to get underway around 1:20 p.m. (ET), and FOX Sports 1 will provided television coverage of the event.
